ZPEB Drilling is one of the strongest onshore drilling forces in China and it is composed of 5 specialized drilling companies, 2 drilling engineering servicing companies and 1 Drilling Engineering Research Institute. ZPEB Drilling owns over a hundred various kinds of mechanical and SCR electric rigs, such as silicon- controllable electric rigs of Model C-3-II, Model C-1-II, Model 50DB, Model ZJ-50D & ZJ-70D, Model E2100, Model E1700; and mechanical rigs of Model F-400 and Model F-320, Model ZJ-50D, Model ZJ-45J, Model ZJ-32J, Model ZJ-32L, Model 130-II, and truck-mounted rig of ZJ-20, etc.. Within 126 drilling crews , there are over 30 crews being awarded the titles of National Gold Medal Crews; 31 crews being granted Class A Qualification Certificate by Sinopec, all the other crews being granted Class B Qualification Certificate, and 7 Crews have passed the qualification for drilling coal-bed methane. ZPEB Drilling has obtained the ISO9000 Quality System Certification and joined the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC).

ZPEB Drilling has accumulated rich experiences through many years drilling activities in various complicated reservoirs, and has led the way in China for drilling directional well, cluster-well, horizontal well, ultra-deep well, salt-gypsum bed and reservoirs with high-pressure and low-permeability as well as in the technologies of well control, lost circulation prevention, plugging and sealed coring. It has not only successfully drilled a lot of wells in Zhongyuan Oilfield, which is characterized by complicated faulted blocks, deeply buried hydrocarbon, salt-gypsum developed reservoir, abnormal high pressure, easy to blowout, loss, and stick formation, etc., but also offered lots of drilling services for many domestic major oilfields and foreign oil companies, from which 58 world-level drilling records have been created, and several hundred deep wells over 5000 m have been accomplished. Simultaneously, it has actively developed the field for drilling non-hydrocarbon wells, including coal-bed methane well, water well, geothermal well, saline-alkali mirabilite well, and has successfully completed a large number of such wells.

ZPEB Drilling, relying on high quality drilling crews and advanced drilling equipment and technologies, has successfully accomplished many drilling projects through ICB bidding process, including: Dongting drilling project for Petrocorp of New Zealand in Hunan province, China; Fuyang drilling project for Amoco in Anhui province, China; Tarim drilling projects for Esso and for Japan Petroleum corporation in Xinjiang Urgur Autonomous Region, China; Sanjiao Coal Bed Methane drilling project for Enron in Shanxi province, China; Xingxian Coal Bed Methane Drilling Project for Philips in Shanxi province, China; Subei drilling project for Shell in Jiangsu province, China; Huaibei Coal Bed Methane drilling project for Texaco in Anhui province, China. It has also completed many drilling and workover projects in foreign countries, such as Bangladesh, Sudan, Qatar, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, etc.. Various services have been highly praised by the clients.

ZPEB Drilling has developed and perfected its drilling technology through many years drilling practice with the advanced technology and equipment introduced from abroad. Following drilling technologies have been developed:
    (1)Technology of drilling directional well and cluster well: The technology of drilling directional well was adopted in 1983, and then over 1500 conventional directional wells, short-displacement wells and cluster wells have been completed.
    (2)Technology of drilling horizontal well: The technology was adopted in 1992. ZPEB has successfully completed over 30 wells, of which 17 wells have been successfully drilled in foreign countries and 13 wells have been drilled domestically in China.
    (3)Under-balanced drilling technology: Many under-balanced drilling operations have been performed by using Williams Model 7000 high-pressure rotary head and surface closed circulation degassing system.
    (4)Technology of drilling adjustment well: The technology is used to solve the problems of mud loss and well kick encountered due to unknown original formation pressure, pressure increase in the pay zone of injection well and shortfall of original formation pressure around production wells. Zhongyuan Oilfield belongs to a complicated faulted block area and drilling operation is relatively difficult, but after many years drilling practice and research, a mature and perfect technology has been developed, which is in the leading position in China.
    (5)Technology of cased-hole side-tracking in old swell: Side-tracking of old wells were started in earlier 1990's. Cased hole side-tracking can be conducted in the cased hole of 9 5/8" and 5 1/2". About 200 wells of such kind have been completed.
    (6)Technology of drilling deep and ultra-deep wells: It is mainly composed of the safety and stuck-proof technique, the heat-proof and salt-resisting drilling fluid for deep wells, and the deep-well cementing technology. By application of rotary table, mud motor and the optimized bits, drilling rate can be increased. Several hundred of deep and ultra-deep wells have been successfully drilled in Zhongyuan and Tarim Oilfield. This technology has led the way in the onshore drilling industry in China.
    (7)Technology of drilling coal-bed methane well: The technology has been greatly improved through many year's research and practice of drilling, completion, coring, and drilling fluids in coal-bed methane well, through introduction of advanced cavern-building device, and through application of ZY 9508-III wireline coring tool and auto-floating mono-point instrument and so on.
    (8)Drilling machinery and instrumentation: Advanced instruments have been successively developed in ZPEB, such as drilling parameter instrument, auto-floating mono-point and multi-point instrument, ZY 9508-III wireline coring tool, etc., which have greatly improved the accuracy and visibility.
    (9)Technology of drilling fluid and completion fluid. ZPEB has been in the domestic advanced level for the technology of such fluids as sulfonic-acid anion and zwitterionic series copolymer agent and other heat-proof and salt-resistant agent. The technology of slurry curing agent and non-solid state chemical cleaner and polyalcohol drilling fluids can reduce the pollution damage to the environment.     (10)Cementing Technology: ZPEB has been in the advanced domestic level for the technologies of 5-1/2" x 4" delayed cementing, low-temperature cement swelling agent, and the cementing technologies for the high-pressure oil/gas well, low-pressure leak-off well, horizontal well, long-inferred well and small clearance well. Mud transferred cementing (MTC) technology is helpful to the environmental protection and is successfully applied in oilfields of Zhongyuan, Shanbei and Jidong
